Leopards on the prowl in villages of KR Pete

Mandya: People in Kariganahalli and surrounding villages in KR Pete taluk are spending sleepless nights because leopards which are on the prowl.
There has been a spurt in cases of leopards preying on domestic animals, including dogs, in those villages. The villagers, who claim that they have lost many cattle to the leopards in the last few days, said that they are wary to venture out to attend to their daily chores.
Ramakrishna and his family members saw a leopard trying to kill their pet dog on Saturday night.However, it fled the spot after they raised an alarm. But the dog was severely injured by then.
"We are in constant fear because of leopards which can attack us in open areas anytime. They have now been emboldened by attacking domestic animals inside our villages," Ramakrishna added.
