KARACHI: Most of the markets and trading centres in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas, Larkana, Nawabshah and other cities in parts of the country remained closed to mourn the demise of celebrated humanitarian and founder of Edhi Foundation, Abdul Sattar Edhi, on Saturday. The main business centres in the metropolis including Boulton Market, Saddar, Clifton, Hyderi, Electronic Market, Jama Cloth Market, Lea Market, Jodia Bazaar and several other markets remained closed to pay homage to the great social worker of the time. In Hyderabad, traders of Reesham Gali, Faqir Ka Par, Zarafa Bazaar, Fateh Bazaar, Naem ki Chari, Faran Road, Askari Road markets and other market closed down their businesses. In morning, all the markets and bazaars in Mirpurkhas including Cloth Market, Hilal Market, Grain Market, Municipal Shopping Centre, Police Line Shopping Centre, Shahi Bazaar, Khisak Pura, Gurdwara, Sarafa Bazaar, Electronic Market, Mirwah Road, Sir Syed Road and Medicine Market and others remained closed. The business people in Punjab including Sargodha, Faisalabad, Lahore, Multan and other major cities also mourned the demise of the renowned social worker. The members of civil society and non-governmental organisations marked candle vigil in many cities of the country. Despite the great shock of the demise, Edhi Foundation workers and ambulances of all centres in the country remained busy in serving the ailing people and transporting them to the hospitals.
