Hisar, July 10

About a month after strengthening Dabra railway overbridge (RoB) here, cracks have developed on the surface.

The maintenance work was carried from May 31 to June 13. City residents faced inconvenience, as the traffic was diverted. Being the key link in the city, around 50,000 vehicles cross the RoB every day.

The surface developed cracks a few days after the completion of the work. Several cracks and dents are visible on the newly carpeted bridge, causing bumps on the road.

The Public Works Department (PWD) has issued a tender for strengthening the RoB to a private firm for about Rs90 lakh.

Local BJP MLA Kamal Gupta said he would get the matter probed and the guilty would be taken to task.

A PWD engineer, who oversaw the maintenance work, said cracks seemed to have developed because of moisture, as rain fell during the repair work. — TNS
