Dubai: Brazilian striker Wanderley Santos was on his way to Al Nasr from Sharjah on Sunday night after both sides agreed a fee for his transfer.

All that remained at the time of print was the result of a medical, the completion of personal terms, and a contract signing.

If successful, Santos, 27, will be Al Nasr’s second summer signing after the arrival of Moroccan midfielder Abdul Aziz Barrada, 27, from Marseille, which was confirmed last week.

Chilean-Palestinian midfielder Luiz Jimenez and Brazilian striker Nilmar are the two players making way for these transfers.

The Blue Wave are strengthening their foreign quartet ahead of their two-legged Asian Champions League quarter-final clash with Qatar’s El Jaish in August.

Santos would be a sound appointment for the club after scoring 32 goals in 51 appearances for Sharjah since joining from Qatar’s Al Arabi in 2014.

Elsewhere, newly promoted Ittihad Kalba have confirmed the arrival of 29-year-old Iraqi defender Salam Shaker from Saudi Arabia’s Al Fateh, 30-year-old Burkinabe striker Yahia Kebe from Qatar’s Al Kharaitiyat and 33-year-old Spanish striker Carmelo Gonzalez from Thailand’s Suphanburi.

Al Wasl’s new coach Rodolfo Arrubarrena from Argentina’s Boca Juniors has also outlined his mission with the club in his first statement since signing.

“Our objective is clear, to become one of the strongest teams and to compete for silverware,” he said. “From Sunday, all players and staff will meet for the first time. I hope to see good unity. We will work with the goal of winning the league and other competitions.”
