MLAs inspect proposed second line route of SWR in Goa
MARGAO: The South Western Railway (SWR) has begun the task of consulting local elected representatives, including MLAs, before initiating the land acquisition process wherever found necessary along the Goa stretch of the route for the double tracking project.
Sanvordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar, Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral, Cuncolim MLA Subhash Naik recently inspected the route of the proposed second line in their respective constituencies.
The MLAs insisted that no legally built structures be demolished to make way for the project and that underpass and over bridges be built wherever necessary.
Recently, South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar had asked the SWR to do the double tracking of the Goa stretch of the track from Castlerock to Vasco in phases and not to “rush through” the project without resolving issues raised by the residents in some areas.#
