Torn apart by fear, mistrust and hatred, the civilised world, as we know it, is ripping itself apart with guns, bombs and knives. This is a time when the message of ahimsa -the code of non-violence espoused by visionaries like Gautam Buddha, Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela -should speak the loudest. With this message, Ketan Mehta is gearing up to shoot parts of his documentary, titled Ahimsa, in Bolpur.
He is slated to interview Nobel laureate Amartya Sen for the project. Ketan, who last made Manjhi: The Mountain Man with Nawazuddin Siddiqui, will be in Bolpur on July 14. This is our last chance to do something for humanity. In this terror-filled world, ahimsa or non-violence as a concept has to be adapted globally. I am looking forward to interviewing some prominent people who have given peace a thought. In this connection, we have got in touch with Amartya Sen, said Ketan. The filmmaker will be shooting parts of the docu around Patha Bhavana, where Sen had studied. Said a source close to the unit, Peace is the need of the hour and even Tagore had a lot to say about how it could be achieved. All his life, Tagore believed that until big and powerful nations curbed their desire for territorial expansion and control over smaller nations, world peace would not stand a chance. These concerns are likely to come up in the docu as Ketan interviews Sen."
The filmmaker himself said that there will be several global celebrities as part of the docu. We can't disclose the names right now, but we are making Ahimsa for the global audience, added Ketan.
