Truck runs over fruit vendor near Sarkhej
Ahmedabad: A 36-year-old man was run over by a truck on Sarkhej-Sanand Road early on Saturday morning. The driver left the truck at the accident site and fled. Police have started a search for him.
According to Sarkhej police, Rajesh Chunara, 36, was involved in the fruit selling business and lived at Chunaravaas in Sarkhej. He left home to go to a nearby marketing yard to buy fruit and start his day. His family learned about the accident at 7 am.
"According to the complaint by his mother, Leela Chunara, the truck bearing an Ahmedabad registration hit Chunara's cycle-rickshaw near Bharati Ashram at 6.45 am. Chunara died at the spot," said a Sarkhej police official.
In another incident, three people were injured at Amdupura in a collision between a car and an auto rickshaw, said city police.

Investigators said that from the number plate, they have identified the truck owner as Lakshman Vanzara, a resident of Sanand.
