BATHINDA: Expelled from the Congress, former parliamentarian Jagmeet Singh Brar on Saturday hinted at joining hands with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Replying to questions from newspersons, Brar said, "Healthy dialogue would be initiated with like-minded parties, including AAP, at an appropriate time to have a tie-up for the polls."
He said the process to start the dialogue was yet to start.
Brar defended AAP on the controversy over imposing its symbol on a picture of Golden Temple on the cover of its youth manifesto. Brar said it was unintentional and party leaders had apologized, but SAD and Congress were unduly raising a hue and cry. On Saturday, Brar presided over a meeting wit socio-political organization 'Punjab Lok Hit Abhiyan', which has been set up by him. The members from 14 assembly segments from Malwa region had assembled at Bathinda to take stock of political situation in the state. Six former MLAs Harbans Lal, Vijay Sathi, Tarsem Jodha, Ripjit Singh Brar, Nirmal Singh Mahant and Parveen Nusrat attended the meeting.
"We will form a political party ahead of the assembly elections and tie up with like-minded parties including, AAP. The dialogue for alliance with such parties will be started at appropriate time," Brar said.
He said that SAD-BJP government had failed to arrest those guilty of sacrilege incidents, including in the Bargari case. He said that the government was going all-out against AAP, which clearly showed its double standards. Brar said the debt on farmers, drug abuse and massive unemployment among youths was rampant in Punjab which needed to be tackled at the earliest.
