Marcus Ericsson misses qualifying after FP3 crash

SILVERSTONE, Great Britain -- Marcus Ericsson missed qualifying for the British Grand Prix in order to undergo checks in hospital following an accident in final practice.

Ericsson was taken to a local hospital as a precaution after walking away from his big accident on Saturday morning. He did not return with the all clear in time for qualifying and therefore missed the session.

Ahead of Q1 the team tweeted: "We are still awaiting news from the hospital. Only Felipe will participate in qualifying."

If Ericsson is cleared to race by doctors, the stewards are likely to allow him to start from the back of the grid.
