Police seizes 1st millennium BC antiques in Qazvin

TEHRAN, Jul. 09 (MNA) – Police chief of Criminal Investigation Department in Qazvin, north-west of the country, has seized a number of stolen antiques belonging to 1st millennium BC.

Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a house in Qazvin which led to the discovery of four pieces of antiquity including two earthenware bowls, a standing bronze statue of a full human figure, and a brass dish decorated with red and golden designs.

“After experts ran investigations on the seized antiques, it was revealed that the statue and the brass dish were fake but the two earthenware bowls actually belonged to the 1st millennium BC and were highly valuable,” said a police officer.

The police chief of Qazvin also maintained that one person was arrested in regard to the case and refereed to the judicial authorities.
