Official images: New Honda Freed (Jazz based MPV) revealed

While the Honda Mobilio is the Brio based people carrier spin-off, the Freed is the MPV based on the Jazz platform. It’s due for a makeover ever since the new Jazz appeared, and cue the the new 2016 Honda Freed, that has been teased through a couple of images on the manufacturer’s Japanese website.

The Freed’s appearance too, will benefit from company’s latest design philosophy. The voluminous MPV will now have new details like Honda’s ‘Solid Wing face’ design that involves a chrome grille flanked by sleeker headlamps with LED DRLs, a re-sculpted front bumper and redesigned hood.

The rear-end, not revealed in the teasers, will features new, wraparound tail-lamps, a re-profiled bumper with vertical reflectors on either side and an integrated roof spoiler. To put it in numbers, the new Freed will purportedly measure 4,250 mm long, 1,695 mm wide and 1,710 high.

The rest of the details are still at large, but the new Freed will be powered by a 1.5-litre DOHC, i-VTEC petrol engine, while the Freed Hybrid will get the i-DCD system that combines the same petrol engine with a Lithium-ion battery powered electric motor, which collectively send power through the wheels via a dual clutch transmission.

  1. Jazz is flop ??? dude, it’s Honda…don’t compare a cheap baleno n I 20 with if…just ride Jazz ,then u ll feel y it charges a premium over baleno n I 20

  2. It’s gonna be another flop product after jazz. The Jazz was a flop Bcoz of the extra pillar near the driver. All such products like jazz, sx4 have been flops bcoz of confused outer view for driver
