14 cultural complexes

For funding the construction of 14 cultural complexes in the State, the budget has earmarked Rs.100 crore.

These complexes are expected to cost Rs.40 crore apiece and are expected to host theatres, cinema halls, music halls, seminar halls, workshops for handicraftsmen, and short-stay facilities for litterateurs.

In Thiruvananthapuram, the complex would be named after Ayyankali, in Kollam, after Sree Narayana Guru, in Alappuzha after P. Krishna Pillai, in Pathanamthitta after Chattambi Swamy, in Idukki after Akkamma Cherian, in Kottayam after Lalithambika Antharjanam, in Ernakulam after Sahodaran Ayyapppan, in Thrissur after Vallathol Narayana Menon, in Palakkad after V. T. Bhattathirippad, in Malappuram after Abdurahman Sahib, in Kozhikode after Vaikom Mohammed Basheer, in Kannur after Vagbhadanandan, in Wayanad after Idachena Kungan and in Kasaragod, after Subramanian Thirumunpu.

The budget has set aside Rs.50 crore for the construction of a permanent venue for the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).
