Panther electrocuted in Sariska

A panther died after an electric cable fell on him on Friday in the buffer zone of Sariska Tiger Reserve (STR).

Alwar: A panther died after an electric cable fell on him on Friday in the buffer zone of Sariska Tiger Reserve (STR).
According to authorities, the incident took place near Bhairav Temple when the panther came in contact with the wire and got electrocuted. After the incident, the electric supply to the area was turned off.
The officials said they are investigating the case and the carcass has been sent to the medical board for post-mortem.

"The incident took place near Bhairav temple in Tankotra forest of the reserve. Because of the winds the wire fell on the panther. The panther was four years old," said an official.
He added that a notice has been sent to an engineer for laying cable lines in the reserve. Sources said that as per the rules of the reserve, use of electric cables is prohibited.
