The Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited has organised the Crafts Expo at Meera Mahal near the railway station here.

The exhibition by Poompuhar, Salem, with its exhibits on handicrafts, handlooms and jewellery will be here up to July 18.

The exhibition has a collection of brass lamps, Thanjavur art plates, and bronze statues. For those interested in earthy ware, a wide collection of terra cotta, rose wood, sandal wood and sandal wood products, jute products are also on sale. Thanjavur and Jaipur paintings, deco, papier machei, clay, marble, Kondapalli dolls, and Marappachi dolls render splash of colours at the exhibition.

Textiles such as gagra choli, Rajasthan dress materials, Kalamkari material, Vazhnar silk saris, Madurai Sungadi, printed cotton, designer saris, bedspreads, shawls, stoles and wall hangings are also on display. The exhibition is on from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., on all days.
