Yakshotsava in Sirsi from July 15

A three-day Yakshotsava will be held at the Sonda Swarnavalli Mutt in Sirsi taluk from July 15.

It will be held under the auspices of the Yaksha Shalmala to mark its 13th anniversary, according to a report on Friday.

A ‘Talamaddale’ competition has been arranged for students of primary and secondary schools.

Veteran Yakshagana artistes Timmana Yaji Mannige, M.K. Ramesh, Acharya Tirthahalli, and Krishnayaji Balkur will be felicitated.

Yakshotasava will be inaugurated at 10.30 a.m. by Swarnavalli seer Gangadharendra Saraswati Swami.

Competition

The ‘Talamaddale’competition for children will follow the inaugural function and a Yakshagana performance ‘Vishwamitra Menake’ will be staged from 3.30 p.m. under the sponsorship of the Karnataka Yakshagana Bayalata Academy, a press release said.

‘Talamaddale’ competition will be held from 10 a.m. on July 16 and July 17 and Yakshagana performance ‘Kamsa Vadhe’ by Kadambeshwara Chinnara Yakshakala Balaga Balekoppa and Yakshagana ‘Magadhavadhe’ by Sarvodaya Yakshagana Kala balaga Vajralli will be staged at 3.30 p.m. For details contact 9448756273.
