Congress, YSR Congress pay rich tributes to YSR

: The Indian National Congress (INC) and the YSR Congress celebrated the 67{+t}{+h}birth anniversary of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy in Hyderabad, here and in all the 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh.

YSRC president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy along with his mother Vijayamma, wife Bharati, sister Sharmila and brother-in-law Anil Kumar paid floral tributes to the former Chief Minister at his memorial at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district. Prayers were also offered there.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Jagan paid tributes to his father on Twitter. “Some people live forever in the hearts of all those they leave behind. Fondly remembering and missing my father, on his birthday,” he tweeted.

Cake cut

Senior YSRC leaders Ummareddy Venkateswarlu and Botcha Satyanarayana celebrated the anniversary by cutting a huge birthday cake at the party headquarters at Lotus Pond in Hyderabad.

AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh participated in the celebrations in both Gandhi (TPCC) and Indira (APCC) Bhavans in Hyderabad. He paid rich tributes to the Congress leader describing him as a fighter who had a deep commitment to the ideology of the Congress.

APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy said that some people were intentionally trying to bring about a gap between YSR and the Congress. YSR would always be a Congress leader, he said.

YSR Congress leaders performed “paalabhisekham” (cleansing with milk) to the statues of the former Chief Minister at several places in the State.

Congress leaders paid floral tributes at the huge statue of YSR at the Police Control room in Vijayawada.
