KATRA, July 8: Police today seized 600 gms of poppy straw and arrested three drug peddlers at Kakryal, under the jurisdiction of Katra Police Station.
A Police team, headed by SI Maninder Singh, I/C PP Kakryal, laid a Naka at Sidha Road near Ashram and stopped a motorcycle JK20-6829 on which three persons were coming from Kandyar side towards Kakaryal. During frisking 600 gms of poppy straw was recovered from the possession of the accused persons, namely Babu Khan of Kanyar, Hamid Khand of Thareen and Sohan Singh of Dhamonot in Udhampur.
Police seized the recovered poppy straw (Bhuki) and arrested the accused.
In this connection, a case under FIR No. 125/2016 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation was in progress.
