Cong seeks CBI probe

FAZILKA: The Congress has demanded a CBI probe into the Malerkotla Quran desecration case in which Aam Aadmi Party legislator from Delhi, Naresh Yadav, has been booked.

Fazilka, July 8

The Congress has demanded a CBI probe into the Malerkotla Quran desecration case in which Aam Aadmi Party legislator from Delhi, Naresh Yadav, has been booked.

AICC spokesperson Vijay Inder Singla — addressing a party rally organised by former MLA Mohinder Rinwa in the local grain market — said that AAP was desperately trying to capture power by rousing religious passions in the state.

He alleged that the party was overlooking the religious ethos and culture of Punjab.

PPCC vice-president Manpreet Singh Badal announced that if the party comes to power, it would provide employment to one lakh youths in the border districts, including Fazilka, Ferozepur, Tarn Taran, Amritsar, Pathankot and Gurdaspur by launching a special employment scheme.

Factionalism in the Congress again came to the fore over today’s rally. The rally was organised by the group of former MLA Mohinder Rinwa. Rival group members PPCC general secretary Kaushal Kumar Bouk, secretaries Dr Satnam Singh and Dr Yash Pal Jassi did not turn up at the programme as “they were not invited”. Surinder Kalra, president, Block Congress Committee, Fazilka, too was absent. — OC
