Leopard knocks down scooterist

Bicholim: Sadanand Fadte of Divar, was injured after a scooter he was riding was knocked down by a leopard at Mayem, on Wednesday.
Fadte was subsequently admitted to the primary health centre (PHC) Bicholim and was later shifted to the district hospital in Mapusa where he is presently undergoing treatment. His condition is learnt to be stable.
Sources said Fadte was travelling to his workplace at Bicholim on Wednesday, when he was knocked down by a leopard near the Government Polytechnic College at Mayem.
A rise in the movements of leopards in Mayem and Bicholim has been observed over the last few days. Many attribute this to the restarting of mining activities in the area.
