Hon’ble Supreme Court Gives Green Signal To Punjab Government To Start Bus Service In Rural Area

Dismisses Both Cases Filed By Punjab Mini Bus Association

The decision of Punjab Government to ply government buses in rural areas, where is no or nominal bus service has got Hon’ble Supreme Court of India nod as the Hon’ble Court has dismissed both the cases filed by the Punjab Mini Bus Association against the decision of the state government.Disclosing this here today, Mr. Harmail Singh, State Transport Commissioner, Punjab said that the Punjab Government had granted bus permits to Punjab Roadway, Punbus and PRTC for the convenience of general public of those areas, where there no bus service or nominal bus service is available. He said that the Punjab Mini Bus Association had filed application and Contempt Petition before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India against the grant of these permits. 

After this, the Secretary Transport has stopped the operations of these buses till the decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in this regard. He said that the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India has dismissed both the cases filed by the Punjab Mini Bus Association.Mr. Harmail Singh said that as the Hon’ble Court has dismissed both the cases of Punjab Mini Bus Association, now the State Government will start these bus services through Punjab Roadways, PunBus and PRTC. Now, the general public of rural area, students, old-age persons, children and those people, who have been given free travelling facility by the government, will prefer the service. He said that the people will easily reach their destination such as school, colleges, hospitals and their day to day routine work.
