Celebrities have been reacting to the recent police shootings of black men in America.

On Tuesday a video emerged showing two white police officers holding down and shooting Alton Sterling in Louisiana.

The following day another video - which was live streamed on Facebook - claimed to show the aftermath of police shooting Philando Castile in his car in Minnesota.

It's sparked debate about police brutality in the US.

Jay Z has released a new song about the shootings.

It's called Spiritual. He raps that he's "saddened and disappointed in THIS America - we should be further along". Chris Brown, Solange Knowles and Swizz Beatz have also released tracks.

His wife Beyonce held a minute's silence at her gig in Glasgow on Thursday night for the two shooting victims.

She also put Alton Sterling and Philando Castile names on a big screen while pleading for an end to the "war on minorities" in the US.

Drake, who's Canadian, wrote a note on Instagram saying "black and brown communities" are becoming hashtags.

Olivia Wilde tweeted her thoughts.

Justin Timberlake tweeted: "HAS. TO. STOP. Devastating."

Since the start of this year, 561 people have been killed by police in the US. 136 of them were black - that's 24% of all those fatal shootings.

In America 12% of the population are black.

Because of this, lots of people think police are unfairly targeting black people.

The #BlackLivesMatter movement began following the acquittal of George Zimmerman after teenager Trayvon Martin was shot dead in 2013.

The shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile prompted both names to get their own hashtag on social media.

Katy Perry tweeted: "You can't just go on with your day, you must watch this & we must face this continual outrageousness #ALTONSTERLING"

Rapper Tyga urged people not to shoot.

British acts have also been having their say on the US shootings.

But Mischa Barton was criticised for her response on Instagram after posting a photo of herself on a yacht.

One person told the former OC star that she was "tone deaf" while another said, "Sorry Black men being murdered ruined your vacation".
