Car rolls on the Majura Parkway

Instead of celebrating his 25th birthday, Rodney McGrory was pulling himself from the wreckage of his friend's Peugeot 306, sore but alive.

Mr McGrory and his friends Kylie Campbell and Corey Wilson, each walked away from the car's rollover off Majura Parkway on Friday.

They were shaky, sore and bleeding, but Mr McGrory was well enough to take himself to hospital with what he thought was a broken shoulder.

Surveying the wreckage, Ms Campbell said she felt lucky to be alive.

She escaped with grazes down the left side of her face, while Mr Wilson's arms and wrists were bloodied and he was sore all over.

"It's a good one, because at least we're still alive. We could be dead," said Ms Campbell, who had to pull herself out through the boot.

Mr Wilson, 25, had only owned the car for two days.

Earlier this week, ACT Policing urged people to take car on the roads. There were 26 crashes reported to police from Friday to Monday, seven of which resulted in injuries.

A man died on the Monaro Highway last Saturday.

Paramedics and firefighters were called to the crash about 500 metres south of Tambreet Street at 2.16pm on Friday afternoon.

The crash forced the closure of one northbound and southbound lane on the Majura Parkway as emergency crews attended.

An ACT Policing spokesman said traffic was being diverted away from the crash site from Tambreet Street.

Paramedics have assessed the occupants for suspected minor injuries, an ACT Emergency Services agency spokesman said.
