Gang of women stealing gold ornaments held

The Raopura police on Thursday nabbed three women and a man who used to steal gold ornaments from passers-by on the city roads.

Vadodara: The Raopura police on Thursday nabbed three women and a man who used to steal gold ornaments from passers-by on the city roads.
Cops seized two gold earrings and two mobile phones from four persons who were nabbed on Raopura-Dandia Bazaar Road. It is suspected that the gang may have targeted many more citizens. The accused have been identified as Sharda Devipujak, Bhagat Devipujak, Lata Devipujak and Ganga Devipujak.

Two separate complaints of theft during the Jagannath Rath Yatra in the city were also registered at Raopura police station. Rekha Kharva, a resident of Madan Zampa Road told the police that three women and a young man stole her gold chain worth Rs 5,000 in Dandia Bazaar area on Wednesday evening.
Bhavna Trivedi, a resident of Gotri Road too was targeted by a woman identified as Reeva Chauhan on Raopura Road. Bhavna chased and caught hold of Reeva when she tried to steal her phone during the yatra.
