Kits distributed to needy

Eid kits sponsored by members of Crescent Educational Society (CES) were distributed to the needy in and around Chalakkudy on the premises of Crescent Public School on July 4. Chalakkudy Municipal Chairperson Usha Parameswaran distributed the kits. Shahul Panikkaveettil, secretary, CES, welcomed the gathering, while M.K. Abdul Rahman, chairman, presided. Crescent Public School principal Philomina James offered felicitation, and Nazeer Pallimuttath, joint secretary, CES, delivered vote of thanks. CES had earlier organised an Iftar party on July 24 at Crescent Convention Centre. Students of Crescent Public School presented a skit during the morning assembly on July 4, highlighting the importance of fasting. Mappilapattu by students added colour to the celebrations.

Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated

Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated at Sri Sai Vidya Vihar at Thiruvaloor. Bukhari Faizi Kaniyapuram, Imam of Edeyappuram, gave the Eid-day message. Students also recited verses from the Quran on the occasion.

Reading week observed

Mar Athanasius International School at Kothamangalam observed ‘reading week’ from June 20 to 24.

Students from the primary section staged the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Students also visited the M.A College library and participated in a Malayalam debate.

Pootha Pattu by Kunjunni Mash was presented during the Malayalam session. Word building games were held for students of grades 1 and 2. Hunt the Meaning was held for grades 3 and 4, while students of grades 5 and 6 dressed up as characters from books they have read during the reading week. They also delivered a short speech on their character and the book.

A ‘reading interest survey’ and ‘recommend a book’ were held as part of the reading week.

Inter-school cultural fest

FRESCO, the inter-school cultural fest, organised by Christu Jayanthi Public School, will be held today (July 8). The event provides students a forum to test their intellectual and artistic prowess. Students from over 40 schools will participate in the 10th edition of the programme.
