KHALID Bin Hamad Mixed Martial Arts fighter (KHK MMA) Abdulla Seena went down fighting to New Zealand’s Lath Stevens on points in the second round of the World Championships for Amateurs in Las Vegas yesterday.
The event is being organised by International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) in cooperation with Ultimate Fighting Organisation “UFC”.
Seena was level in the first round and could have clinched victory in the second when he had his opponent in a ‘chokehold’, but Stevens escaped in the nick of time and clinched the 60kg bout in the third round on points.

Meanwhile, first deputy chairman of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and founder of KHK MMA continued following Bahrain’s participation in the world championship.
Shaikh Khalid praised the convincing performance of Seena though the Bahraini fighter went down fighting.
Shaikh Khalid said the world championship was a great opportunity for Bahraini fighters to get exposure and gain experience.
He also praised Fahad Abdulrazaq for reaching the quarter-finals in the 56kg category. “He is unlike other fighters of his age as he possess a great spirit and a strong will to win,” said Shaikh Khalid and wished him success in the upcoming bout.
Abdulrazaq defeated British fighter Warren Mason in the first round and takes on Bulgarian Nikolay Ivaylov in the quarter-finals.
KHK MMA’s Russian coach Renat Abu Ahmad said the Bahrain team has so far delivered good performances and emphasised on the improvement of their fighting skills and abilities.
Meanwhile, KHK MMA’s professional fighter Frankie Edgar, who is set to take on Brazilian Jose Also in the main card of the Ultimate Fighting Championship ‘UFC 200’, participated in a press conference ahead of his bout.
