2-yr-old killed, thrown in drain by father

JJ Marg police in Byculla have registered a case against a mentally unstable man who allegedly murdered his two-year-old son and threw the body in a drain near the Sandhurst Road railway station on Tuesday.

According to the victim’s mother Samina (32), her husband took their youngest son, Kaif, for shopping on Tuesday. Although they did not return the same day, Samina registered a missing complaint at the JJ Marg police station in Byculla only on Wednesday after she allegedly received a call from her husband who told her that he threw the boy on the tracks.

A search operation by the police recovered Kaif’s body from a drain near the railway track between Sandhurst Road and Byculla stations. “We located the telephone booth in Mastan Talao from where Khan called his wife last.

He has been on the run since then and has not contacted any relative,” said Senior Police Inspector Anil Madhvi, JJ Marg police station. The family had arrived in Nagpada just a week ago from Beed to celebrate Eid with the accused father Kadir Khan’s (45) sister.

“The motive behind the murder is not known as statements of Samina and other family members are yet to be recorded,” said a police source.
