AMT Faceoff — Tiago AMT vs Celerio AMT vs WagonR AMT Comparison
With India embracing the automatic gearbox in a big way and every car manufacturer wants to offer in models which are being launched. The recent one being the Tata Tiago AMT (Automatic Manual Transmission).
Maruti was first to break the mould and launched an affordable AMT with the Celerio and the auto major tasted success and is selling good numbers, it has equipped its long selling WagonR as well.

Exterior:
Tata has made a lot of progress in terms of design language, the Tiago looks premium and stylish. From the large 'Humanity Smile' front grille to the swept back headlamps, the Tata has come a long way in design.
The Maruti Celerio is conventional in design and practical, the design is boxy and squared out. As for the headroom and cabin space, the Celerio is practical and ease to drive is good.
WagonR is built with the tall boy design frame and is most loved car by family as it easy to drive and the cabin suits most of us. The high eye-point seating helps the driver look ahead with efficiency.
Interior:
The Tiago interiors are fresh and youthful with the body coloured AC vents and the piano black for the centre console makes the Tata Tiago premium. The three spoke steering wheel with brushed silver accents sets the car apart from its competitors.
As for the Maruti Celerio, the simple and not too much of fuss of the design makes it elegant and clear. The plastics are good and the dual tone fabric seats and the interiors feel spacious.
The WagonR from Maruti is great, elegant yet premium, the AC vents are placed at the right place and the total finish is smooth and clear.
Overall, the Tiago is bigger in length, width and height, however, the WagonR is better in terms of height.

Engine Specs and Gearbox of the Tiago AMT vs Celerio AMT vs WagonR AMT
Tata will launch the AMT variant of the Tiago in the petrol engine, which is powered by 1.2-litre three cylinder MPFi engine, which churns out 84bhp of power and 115Nm of torque and gearbox will be taken care by the 5-speed AMT (Automatic Manual Transmission).
As for the Maruti Celerio, it is powered by 1.0-litre three cylinder K10B series petrol engine and develops 67bhp of power and 90Nm of peak torque which comes mated to the 5-speed AMT.
Maruti WagonR to is powered by the same engine as the Celerio and comes with the same configurations.

The Tata Tiago comes with of the class leading features like the Harman music system, first in segment smartphone enabled turn-by-turn navigation system and the Juke-Car app. Also, you get clutch footrest, tilt steering, electric ORVMs, foldable key, theatre dimming effect interiors and much more.
Maruti Celerio is equipped with integrated audio with Bluetooth connectivity and steering mounted audio controls.
As for the Maruti WagonR, it comes with the best of comfort and cabin space. Also, are the foldable seats for extra storage, conveniently located cup holders, and the audio system comes integrated with USB, electric ORVMs, and gear position indicator.

The safety features of the Tata Tiago comes with dual airbags, central locking with remote, speed sensing door locks, and engine immobiliser.
As for the Celerio, Maruti has equipped it with dual airbags, ABS, engine immobiliser, and outside air temperature display.
Maruti WagonR comes with dual airbags, ABS, collapsible steering wheel, intelligent computerised Anti-theft system.

The Tata Tiago AMT is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 4 lakh to Rs. 5.5 lakh ex-showroom. While the Maruti Celerio AMT is priced in the range Rs. 4.5 lakh to 5.23 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).
As for the Maruti WagonR, prices for the VXi AMT is Rs. 4.84 lakh and VXi AMT (O) is Rs. 5.17 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).
Verdict of the Tiago AMT vs Celerio AMT vs WagonR AMT
Tata might have a winner with the Tiago AMT, the design is much better and stylish compared to the Celerio and the WagonR. Features like audio from Harman with eight speakers and navigation system wins it for the Tiago. However, we cannot ignore Maruti branding it enjoys in India, it has the best resale value, better storage and the support of the after sales service from Maruti which is the best in the industry.
