Mysuru: Stressing the need for a new political outfit that can address the problems of farmers in the state, Melkote MLA KS Puttanaiah, said various organisations including Sarvodaya Karnataka Paksha and Swaraj Abhiyan would discuss about it at the two-day conference to be held at Dharwad from July 9.
Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Puttanaiah said the new political party would be floated before the 2018 Assembly elections, if everything goes according to plan.
"None of the existing political parties have concern towards farmers and their problems. Farmers from all over the country are in deep trouble due to the anti-farmer policies of the successive governments,'' he said.
"Neither the farmers nor their crops have security. A major portion of the farming community is yet to get the access to the back facilities. Farmers are not getting fertilisers and seeds on time," Puttannaiah said.
Support for independent:
Puttanaiah said that his Sarvodhaya Karnataka Paksha and Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha would support independent candidate Anitha in the bye-election to the Raghavendra Ward of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC). Anitha is wife of former corporator of the ward R Ananthu.
"Anitha is my relative and her husband Ananthu had done good work in the ward. So we are supporting her in the election. We will also campaign for her," Puttannaiah said..
