In Raisen, 45 km from Bhopal, heavy rains in last 48 hours snapped road connectivity between district headquarters and Vidisha with the swollen Betwa river flooding National Highway 146. Chief secretary Antony DeSa will take stock of situation of these districts through video-conferencing next week.
Seven gates of a dam in Betul district were opened to release excess water in the reservoir.
Met officials said many places in west and few areas in east Madhya Pradesh will get more rain or thundershower. Weatherman issued warning of heavy rainfall at isolated places in western region.
Narsinghpur, which recorded around 312 mm rain was worst-affected area in eastern Madhya Pradesh. A bridge in Dindori collapsed, officials said. In a village of Narsinghpur district, a girl saved her brother's life when he was drowning in a nullah. Witnesses said girl Lalita, 12, jumped into the nullah after her 3-year-old brother Subah fell into it.
The administration has sounded high alert for areas surrounding Narmada river. Other parts, including Katni, Damoh, Umaria, Seoni and Balaghat received heavy rains in last 48 hours. Uninterrupted rain has increased the water level of Tawa dam by one feet.
Similar conditions are likely to exist for at least two more days in the state. Met department issued high alert for Sagar, Damoh, Narsinghpur, Rewa and Satna districts. The other areas for which an alert has been include Raisen, Hoshangabad, Guna, Sidhi, Panna, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Ashok Nagar, Betul, Jabalpur, Vidisha, Shivpuri and Rajgarh districts.

From June 1 to July 6, 23 districts have recorded above normal rains, 21 normal and 7 districts have recorded below normal rains in the state. Districts, which recorded above normal rainfall include Jabalpur, Chhindwara, Mandla, Narsinghpur, Sagar, Damoh, Panna, Chatarpur, Umaria, Ratlam, Shajapur, Morena, Bhind, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashok Nagar, Datia, Bhopal, Sehore, Raisen, Vidisha, Rajgarh and Hoshangabad.
Similarly, Katni, Seoni, Dindori, Tikamgarh, Rewa, Sidhi, Singrauli, Satna, Shahdol, Indore, Dhar, Alirajpur, Khandwa, Ujjain, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Dewas, Shyopur Kalan, Gwalior, Harda and Betul have recorded normal rainfall.
Below normal rainfall has been recorded in Balaghat, Anuppur, Jhabua, Khargone, Barwani, Burhanpur and Agar-Malwa districts.
