Story telling is a difficult art as they are based on some incident or event and long after the story is forgotten the event stays, critic Prayaga Subrahmanyam said complimenting the efforts of Jayanti Prakash Sarma in bringing out a compilation of his stories.

Speaking at the release of the first collection of short stories by J.P. Sarma (SBI Sarma) – Yedari Parugu – at a function organised by Visakha Rasagna Vedika here on Wednesday, the well-known literary critic appreciated the writing style of the author.

Not only is Sarma a consummate story teller but a veteran of theatre, it is the theatre experience that has enabled him to give life to the characters essayed in his stories, founder president of Visakha Rasagna Vedika G. Raghurama Rao said thanking the writer for giving the honour of hosting the event to the organisation.

“Till I saw the collection I was not aware of his story telling talent, I only knew that he has been writing for over four decades and has been a regular contributor to the bank inhouse magazine – Vigilant,” general secretary of All India SBI Employees Union M.V. Murali said after releasing the compilation.

The stories revolve around the lives of common people and are written in a simple style and reflect the psychology and social values of the common man. It is the fears of the common man that help keep alive the ethical values of the people and society, he added.
