The Zimbabwe Defence Forces has vowed to continue investing in the training of its personnel, although the country’s detractors are spending sleepless nights plotting its downfall.

Speaking during the graduation of 110 students of the three amour courses at Inkomo Barracks last Friday, Chief-of-Staff Major-General Sibusiso Moyo said availability of resources was a challenge for the School of Armour.

“These challenges may continue to be with us since our detractors are spending sleepless nights fighting for our downfall,” said Maj Gen Moyo.

Maj Gen Moyo said the operational efficiency of the equipment such as tanks and armoured cars was also affected by inadequacy of spare parts, impacting negatively on their training programmes.

“Be rest assured that concerted effort is being made towards addressing this issue, and I am confident that the fleet shall soon be at your disposal, possibly on your future courses or during retraining,” Maj Gen Moyo said.

He urged the graduates to desist from being involved in unethical conduct and to safeguard the integrity of the nation with their blood as they pledged, regardless of the prevailing economic situation.

Maj Gen Moyo appreciated the presence of female students among the graduates.

“It is the School of Amour’s policy to afford the same status to male and female students,” he said

The graduation marked the completion of a batch of crucial courses and signified a major step in the growth of the national army. Courses undertaken sought to equip students with necessary skills in carrying out their duties in peace time and times of war.
