Molestation case: Mika Singh, fashion designer trade charges

According to the FIR lodged by the 32-year-old woman on Tuesday, she first came in contact with Singh six years ago, and they became friends soon after. She has alleged that two and a half months ago, Singh entered into her house, grabbed her arm and hugged her forcibly. “I let it go at that time because he was a friend. But when I learnt later that he molested many women, I decided to approach the police,” the complainant has stated.

Singh, the complainant has alleged, promised to get her acting and modelling roles, and offered financial assistance if she did not go to the police. However, when the complainant was recently in need of money, Singh allegedly did not help inspite of several reminders from her.

Frustrated, she went to Singh’s bungalow in Andheri West at 5 am on Tuesday and knocked the door, but received no answer. “He did not answer the door but abused me and told me to go away. I was very angry and entered his house from the window. I needed Rs 5 lakh, but he was ready to offer only Rs 50,000,” the complaint read.

The two entered into an argument, and the complainant alleged that Singh abused and assaulted her with his hands and shoes and tore part of her clothes. She said, “He told me, ‘main mere bhai ko nahi deta, toh tum kaun ho? Aur main kisi ko aage badhne nahi deta’ (When I didn’t give moneyto my brother, who are you?

I don’t allow anyone’s career to advance).”

In his three-page complaint, however, Singh has claimed that she had been constantly harassing him and demanding Rs 5 crore. “If I don’t pay her ransom, she will register a false case of rape against me and and has been threatening me that she knows Abu Salem and and she will get me eliminated if I don’t pay her money,” his letter read.

“We are probing into both complaints to verify their veracity. We are also examining the CCTV footage and text messages and speaking to witnesses to the incident,” said Kiran Kale, Senior Inspector, Versova police station.
