“The first thing I do on Eid morning is to visit the Sufi Dargah in Mahim where I feed the poor and homeless. After a round of ‘namaaz’, I return home to break the fast with my family. The breakfast is usually ‘Mutton curry’ with ‘appam’. This Eid is also special for us because this is the first time that my 10-year-old son Rayaan is observing the fast.I also mourn the lives of all the innocent people who died during the mindless violence perpetrated in the name of god.”

Aryan Raj, Actor

“I will start the day with something sweet, perhaps some dates or a milk-based sweet. Once the prayer is over, we will have a gathering at home with my friends and family. There will be plenty of ‘biryani’ and other dishes to feast on. The one thing that I’m looking forward to is ‘Sheer khurma’. To end the celebrations, we’ll be going to
watch ‘Sultan’.”

Imran Sardhariya, Choreographer and director

“I haven’t been able to observe the fast this Ramzan because of my hectic travel schedules but my wife Saniya and children Riyah and Aryan have followed it. Food is a big part of Ramzan and Saniya is a good cook. It’s always ‘Mutton biryani’ for lunch with variations in chicken. The dessert is ‘Malpua’ and a pudding which is usually the result of Saniya’s experiments in the kitchen.”

Syed zulfi, Actor

“I am presently shooting for the Bollywood project ‘Mera India’ but every year during Eid, I make it a point to be home with my wife Sheena and family in Bengaluru. I grew up in Bengaluru and have a large circle of friends from school and college who used to come home every year during Eid. Even after all these years, my friends from school still come home for the ‘biryani’. The tradition of getting together hasn’t been broken. The traditional ‘biryani’ and sweets such as ‘Kheer’, ‘Gulab jamun’ and a special dish cooked in ‘malai’ and rice are an integral part of the menu at my place.”
