Bihar man forced to lick his own spit by panchayat for ill-timed truth

A person in Samastipur district of Bihar was forced to lick his own spit for speaking the truth. The incident happened last week at Bambaiya Harlal village in Dalsinghsarai area of Samastipur where Bhairon Sah, a resident of the same village, was forced to lick his own spit by the village panchayat. Sah was punished for speaking a truth two years back.

INCIDENT HAPPENED TWO YEARS AGO

It all started two years back when there were rumors in the village that one Murari Jha, native of the same village, had got a government job. However, the truth was that Murari was jobless and had not got any government job. Coincidentally, Bhairon Sah knew about Murari Jha's reality that he did not have any such job. Soon there was a marriage proposal for Murari Jha from neighboring Dashrathpur village. The father of the girl inquired from Bhairon Sah whether Murari had a government job or not. Bhairon Sah then spoke the truth about Murari Jha not having any job which led to the father refusing to get his daughter married to Murari Jha.

However, few months later Murari Jha got a government job and he married another girl.

The matter had ended but last week, the father of the girl who wanted to marry his daughter to Murari two years back chanced to meet Bauyaji Jha, the village head of Bambaiya Harlal village. The father told Jha the circumstances which led to him refusing to marry his daughter with Murari Jha. The father disclosed how Bhiron Sah had told him the reality about Murari not having a government job back then.

Village head, Bauyaji Jha after coming to know about the matter convened panchayat next day and summoned Sah to his house. At the panchayat, Bauyaji Jha lambasted Bhairon Sah.

Now a video has gone viral of the panchayat's proceeding.

In the video also it is clearly seen that Bhairon Sah is sitting on the floor while village head and others are sitting on chairs. In the video, it is seen that the village head is asking Bhairon Sah to lick his own spit, a punishment that Sah had to undergo. The video was shot by the nephew of the Bauyaji Jha and then posted on social media sites on instructions from latter.

After the matter reached the police, Bhairon Sah told the SP of Samastipur Nawal Kishore Singh about the atrocities he had to face at the hands of the village panchayat. He told the police that first the village panchayat ordered him to pay Rs. 25000/- as fine for telling the truth two years back. When Sah expressed his inability to pay the hefty amount, the panchayat then ordered that Bhairon Sah be caned 50 times. When Bhairon Sah cried for mercy and not to cane him, then the panchayat passed the diktat for Sah to lick his own spit.

FIR REGISTERED

Now an FIR has been registered against village head and an arrest warrant has also issued against him.

Bhairon Sah said, " someone asked me two years back whether Murari had a government job or not and I just spoke the truth. Last week the panchayat summoned me and beat me up and forced me to lick my own spit".

" The matter reached the DGP and he instructed me to look into the matter. Now we have registered an FIR in the case and arrest warrant against village head is also out. We will soon arrest him", said the Samastipur SP.
