Development push in Ayodhya before World Ramayan conclave in Dec

Lucknow, Jul 6 (UNI) The Centre is contemplating to give a major push to the development of Ayodhya by launching the Ramayan circuit as the city gears up to host the world Ramayan conclave in December. Official sources here today said that the Centre would be granting Rs 250 crore for the development of the ghats and other places in the temple city, where the world Ramayan conclave is slated in December, just before the 2017 Assembly polls. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to participate in the conclave. This year's conclave is slated to be held in Ayodhya, whereas Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh had played host to it last year. National and international scholars and saints-sadhus are expected to participate in the event. Meanwhile, the Central government has finalised mapping of Ramayan circuit, Krishna circuit and Buddhist circuit in UP with hectic parleys on for their development to put them on the world tourism map. On the other hand, Samajwadi Party government too has joined the BJP-led NDA government's drive of reviving Hindu religious shrines. Ramayan circuit will be executed by the SP government, the plan for which has been submitted to the Centre. Shedding its ''pro-Muslim'' image, the ruling party in the state has already taken up a series of multi-crore-rupee projects for renovation of Hindu shrines and pilgrimages, including rejuvenation of the Saryu river and Ram ki Paidhi, Yamuna riverfront beautification in Vrindavan in Mathura and Varuna in Varanasi. Sources said the Centre has already earmarked Rs 250 crore for the Ayodhya circuit which tops the priority list with two committees constituted to oversee the project. The Ramayan circuit will comprise Nepal, UP, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and go up to Sri Lanka. Similarly, he said, the Buddhist circuit which already exists in UP would include places related to Lord Buddha in Bihar and Nepal too. The government has also finalised the Krishna circuit mapping places in Vrindavan, in Mathura, in Kurukshetra and at Dwarika in Gujarat. A senior officer of the UP tourism said that after a series of meetings with the central government officials, the state government has submitted a plan for final decision to start work on the Ramayan circuit.
