NARATHIWAT -- About 1,000 Muslims gathered at the municipality's sports field in Muang district on Wednesday morning for Eid al-Fitr prayers to mark the end of Ramadan.

During  prayers, teachings of the Prophet Muhammad were cited by religious leaders, exhorting people to perform good deeds and strictly follow the principles of Islam.

In the afternoon, Muslims were set to clean the graves of their dead parents to commemorate their kindness and benevolence.

Throughout the Muslim-majority southern region, mosques were filled with people praying for peace and good health.
