Shiradi Ghat strengthening work in Sept

Mangaluru: Public works minister H C Mahadevappa said the work on strengthening of Shiradi Ghat in the second stage, would be taken up post monsoon.
The second stage works include strengthening of road from kms 216 (Gulagalale) to 237 (Maranahalli) and rigid pavement work from kms 250.62 (Kempuhole) to 263(Addahole).
In his reply to a question by Ivan D'Souza in the legislative coucil, Mahadevappa said work will start once the contractor concerned has procured at least 50% of the construction material especially aggregate for the rigid pavement work sometime during September or October.
At present, the work of widening and strengthening the culverts is on, the minister said, adding Bisle Ghat, the alternate route to Shiradi Ghat would be developed under KSHIP Programme.To another query Mahadevappa said NHAI has sanctioned upgradation of 63.57 kilometer stretch of NH from Addahole to B C Road into a four lane facility..
