ROB Lane won the fourth and final competition of Royal Golf Club’s (RGC) Ramadan Powerplay Series with a score of 24 points and Wayne Giles narrowly clinched the runner-up spot on count back with 23 points.
Dena Wales won the overall series order of merit with 11 points, Lane was runner-up with 10 points and Giles third with nine points.
George Lodge of RGC team presented prizes to the winners.
The exciting Powerplay Stableford competition, which was played on the floodlit back nine holes of RGC’s Montgomerie championship course, gives competitors a choice on each hole between an easier ‘black & white’ flag option and a harder ‘green’ flag option at each green.
In an added twist, competitors are forced to play the ‘green’ flag on at least three of their nine holes and those successfully completing the harder option receive double the points for the respective hole.
With the ending of Ramadan, the Ramadan Powerplay Series will be replaced with a Monday Night Lights competition every Monday evening.
The nine-hole competitions are open to non-members at a cost of BD20 per night green fee plus a BD2 entry fee which goes into the prize pool.
The events tee off at 6.30pm shotgun start. To register for the next competition on Monday, contact golfevents@theroyalgolfclub.com.
