Medico throws dog from terrace, booked

Chennai: A final-year MBBS student, Gowtham Sudarshan, allegedly threw a dog from the top of a building, which was videographed by his friend and soon after the footage went viral, activists filed a complaint. The police are on the lookout for the accused. It is not known if the animal is dead or alive. An FIR has been registered against Sudarshan and Ashish Pal, who shot the video, under provisions of IPC and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. — PTI

82-year-old becomes oldest liver donor               

Thiruvananthapuram: An 82-year-old man from Kerala became the oldest liver donor in south India, officials said on Tuesday. Vikraman was declared brain dead after an accident late last month. The cadaveric liver transplant took place at the Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences here. The recipient was a 44-year-old man from Kollam, who is now recovering after a surgery that lasted 12 hours. — IANS
