Hisar, July 5
Hisar INLD MP Dushyant Chautala today adopted Bhiwani Rohilan village, which has Haryana’s only all-women panchayat, under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana.
The MP held a meeting in the village today, which was attended by the sarpanch, other panchayat members and villagers.
Appreciating the villagers’ innovative approach to have an all-women panchayat, Dushyant said the village had set an example for other villages.
“The gender ratio of the village is 1,067 girls per 1,000 boys, which indicates unbiased attitude of the villager towards girls,” he said.
Aasha Rani, village sarpanch, said under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, she expected that the village would be able to chart exemplary path of development. “We have several plans for setting up basic infrastructure in the village, including construction of toilets in each village, toilets for women at public places, construction of a public library and repair work at the government school. We have also decided to create facilities and infrastructure for women players, as village has good teams of kabaddi and baseball,” she said.
