Ferrari has hinted for many months that a LaFerrari “spyder” is on the way. The official name and technical characteristics of the car will be announced this September at the Paris International Motor Show, as will the number of examples Ferrari will build. It’s coming, and all available examples have already been sold after a special client preview. The order book is closed.

The new car has a removable carbon-fiber hard top and removable soft top. It has the same running gear and performance figures as the original LaFerrari: 789 horsepower V12 with 516 lb. ft. of torque, with a 9250 rpm redline. For torque fill the V12 couples with a 120 kW electric motor that produces 199 lb ft of torque and the electric equivalent of 161 horsepower. Gas and electric combined, LaFerrari has 950 horsepower.

Chassis has been modified to retain the same torsional rigidity and beam stiffness as the coupe. The car’s aerodynamics have also been honed to guarantee the same drag coefficient when driving in the open configuration.
