Kozhikode: IUML leader and former industries minister P K Kunhalikutty said that the Supreme Court verdict on Monday dismissing the plea by former chief minister V S Achuthanandan seeking a CBI probe into the ice-cream parlour case has ended 20 years of harassment he had suffered on the issue.
Speaking to media persons at the League House here, he said that some vested interests have been raking up the case to hound him all these years.

"I am happy over the verdict and thank God for it. I don't hold any grudge against Achuthanandan who had filed the case. There are other vested interests behind raking up the case and I know who they are. But I don't want to name them and give them credibility," Kunhalikutty added.
He said that despite the fact that no court had found anything against him, he had to suffer many political setbacks due to it.
"The case which started in the fasting month of Ramadan has now ended in another fasting season," Kunhalikutty said.
Responding to a question, Kunhalikutty said that the move by the BJP-led Union government to implement a uniform civil code was suspicious as the BJP have been trying to move ahead with a communal agenda.
"Implementing the uniform civil code is not the most pressing issue before the country at the moment," he said.
