2008 serial blasts: Court to decide on discharge report for Belgaum resident
AHMEDABAD: A metropolitan court has kept Tuesday to decide on the discharge report filed by the city crime branch for Nasir Rangrez (38), who was nabbed by Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) in connection with the 2008 serial blasts.
Rangrez was arrested in May from his native in Belgaum and brought to Ahmedabad by Gujarat police by terming him one of the key conspirators who allegedly plotted the July 26 terror strike at training camps organized in Waghamon forest in Kerala and Halol in Gujarat.

After remanding him in connection with two offences, the city crime branch filed a B summary report in the metropolitan court stating that they have not found any evidence against Rangrez linking him with the 2008 blasts that resulted in 56 deaths in the city.
During the hearing on Monday, the probe agency informed that the additional metropolitan magistrate that the report it has filed is what it had to say about Rangrez. There was none to oppose his proposed discharge.
Earlier, Rangrez was arrested in connection with a terrorism case in Bengaluru and incarcerated for a couple of years. He was acquitted in that case by a local court for want of evidence.
