MUMBAI: A 22-year-old old man committed suicide at his Kandivali East residence early on Sunday. Rohit Patil, 22, hanged himself from the ceiling fan, police officials said. An accidental death case was recorded by the Samta Nagar police.
Rohit Patil lived in Poisar with his family. He did electrical work for a living. According to the police, Patil used to suffer from epileptic fits since a few years.
"His horoscope mentioned that marriage was not on the cards. But Patil's family wanted him to tie the knot. They egged him to look for a match. But Patil had told his family that he did not wish to get married," a police official said.
On Saturday night, Patil had dinner with his family and went to bed. He did not express any anxiety or depression at that time. Around 4am on Sunday, he hanged himself while the rest of the family was asleep. He was rushed to a public hospital where doctors declared him dead. His body was sent for a post-mortem examination and later handed over to his family for conducting last rites.
