Finolex industries donate life saving equipments to Sassoon hospital
PUNE: Finolex Industries and their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partner Mukul Madhav Foundation donated life-saving equipment worth Rs 57 lakhs for the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Sassoon General hospital.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the state-run Sassoon hospital is one of the busiest NICUs of Western Maharashtra, catering to almost 5,000 critically sick babies annually, free of cost.
It is the only urban tertiary care referral center in Pune and for surrounding districts.
"The key focus of care presently at Sassoon hospital is to strengthen the existing facilities for the care of the prematurely born and neonates. The donated equipment will further strengthen the quality care of critically sick low birth weight and premature babies thus further reducing the neonatal mortality and morbidity," said spine surgeon Ajay Chandanwale.
Prakash Chhabria, executive chairman of Finolex Industries said, "fast growing technology, better and latest equipment has become a need of the hour. Finolex Industries is happy to be associated with Sassoon Hospital to complete this project and set-up a fully equipped 50 bedded NICU over the next three years. This ward is being donated in memory of our founder late Pralhad P Chhabria."
The donated equipment for sick neonates included a neonatal ventilator, a high frequency ventilator, five radiant warmers, 20 syringe pumps, two CPAP Unit and five- phototherapy units and five pulse oximeter to NICU.
