Entertainment » OtherPosted at: Jul 4 2016 6:14PM Loktak lake to be developed as Manipur's main tourist centreImphal, Jul 4 ( UNI) Manipur government is developing Loktak lake, one of the biggest fresh water lake situated about 45 km from Imphal in Bishenpur district, as a major tourist centre. It would also be developed as a major source of fisheries and agriculture. The natural course of the lake was disrupted after NHPC took up Loktak hydro project to generate power. To save the lake under a scheme taken up by Loktak Development Authority works like removing phumdis (floating water bodies), improving drainage system, desiltation at critical area, construction of cross regulator, catchment area conservation, construction of sanitary toilets, biodiversity, enhancement of fish resources with the establishment of hatchery, operationalisation of hatcheries were being carried out.Please log in to get detailed story.Tags: #Loktak lake to be developed as Manipur's main tourist centre
