Delhi-based Sahil Sharma, also known as DJ Zaeden, is one of the first Indian electronic music producers to perform at the prestigious Tomorrowland festival in Belgium, and he is all set to head back to Europe in July for more. Zaeden, who just turned 20 and celebrated with a full house in Bengaluru at a show hosted by dating app Tinder on July 2, is set for probably a month-long celebration, with shows in as many as seven cities, ranging from Ibiza to Barcelona and Amsterdam.
Like any other wunderkind DJ popping out of every part of the world, Zaeden has a normal side to him as well, travelling to find inspiration. He says, “After my first release, I took a break to connect with music more intimately and to lookout for the type of music that resonates with me and defines me as an individual. It is always a good idea to take a break from something you are doing 24/7.
I’ve been making a lot of radio or pop stuff lately and loving it.” When he is playing across the world, surely there is something about the Bengaluru audience that stands out for him? He says the only reason he chose to spin two new singles at his show in the city was because the crowd is “always open to something new”. Best known for his remixes of ‘Magic’ by Coldplay, ‘Animals’ by Maroon 5 and ‘Love Yourself’ by Justin Bieber, Zaeden’s next release is out on July 29, a song called ‘Never Let You Go’ featuring electronic music duo Nina and Malika. Talking about the track he says, “It is a special track for me.
It has a mellow, tropical kind of vibe. ‘Never Let You Go’ is something different from my style so I can’t wait to see how people react to this song.”
After he is back from Europe, Zaeden will clock up more kilometres with a tentative Asia tour lined up. Apart from three singles set to release this year, he says the focus is on “delivering quality music”. He adds, “I think things seem easy only when you work hard.”
