Deputy collector (election) N V Raghuraj said the notification for the byelection in the sixth ward of Omassery East in the Omassery grama panchayat will be issued on Monday. The byelection is scheduled on July 28.

Waste collection: Naduvannur panchayat has started Clean Koottalida project to prevent the dumping of waste at Koottalida town and nearby places. The plan is to collect segregated solid waste once in two weeks and to introduce biocomposting units at houses.
Dairy farmers' meet: A meeting of dairy farmers from Thiruvambady region was held at Thiruvambady Marketing society hall on Sunday. The meeting demanded the government to increase the price of milk. The meeting also discussed price hike of cattle feed and other issues faced by farmers.
