Monsoon advances further in Gujarat

With the South-West monsoon advancing further in Gujarat, different parts of Saurashtra and South Gujarat region received heavy to very heavy rainfall on Sunday. The monsoon also brought pleasant weather to Ahmedabad which reeived drizzles on Sunday and the remained cool all day.

Ahmedabad: With the South-West monsoon advancing further in Gujarat, different parts of Saurashtra and South Gujarat region received heavy to very heavy rainfall on Sunday. The monsoon also brought pleasant weather to Ahmedabad which reeived drizzles on Sunday and the remained cool all day.
The city woke up to a cloudy morning. Some parts of the city such as Motera, Chandkheda, Ashram Road, C G Road, Navrangpura and Maninagar had thundershowers.
This gave a pleasant start to Sunday, a holiday.
The riverfront, Kankaria lake and Vastrapur lake were visited by huge crowds as schools and offices were closed and the weather was pleasant.
The day's maximum temperature remained at 38.4 degree celsius, two notches below normal. The minimum temperature was one degree below normal at 27.8 degrees celsius. Humidity levels oscillated between 82% and 84%.
The weather in the city is expected to remain pleasant on Monday as well, according to a forecast of the meteoroligcal centre at Ahmedabad. "The city sky will be generally cloudy. There is likelihood of light rain and thunderstorm towards night on Monday in some parts of the city. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 36 and 27 degree celsius, respectively," officials of Ahmedabad meteorological centre said.
In Saurashtra region, Bhavnagar received heavy rains as various parts of the district witnessed rainfall between 15 to 44 mm on Sunday. In South Gujarat, Surat and surrounding areas received heavy to very heavy rainfall.
