A special drive launched by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Tirunelveli Range, R. Dhinakaran, to reinvestigate the ‘men/ women missing cases’ in southern districts has led to tracing of 158 persons. Following instruction from Dr. Dhinakaran, Superintendents of Police V. Vikraman of Tirunelveli, Ashwin M. Kotnis of Thoothukudi and G. Dharmarajan of Kanniyakumari formed special teams to investigate the pending ‘men/ women missing cases’ filed in their districts.

Interrogated by DSPs

When the complainants and the witnesses were summoned and were interrogated by the DSPs concerned, valuable information relating to the cases was extracted from them.

Based on the information collected, the special teams, while investigating about 379 cases, managed to rescue 53 persons – 14 men, 34 women and five children – in Tirunelveli district.

In Thoothukudi district, the police rescued 10 men, 24 women and 17 children; and 18 men, 31 women and 5 children were detected in Kanniyakumari district.

“The significant aspect of this special drive is that Prema of Gandhi Nagar in Sankarankovil and Antony Paraloha Selvi of Soorankudi in Thoothukudi district have been traced after they went missing four years ago. The family of Aneez of Kovilpatti and Jayaraj of Palliyaadi and Raja of Vadaserry, who went missing three years ago, have also been located and rescued,” said Dr. Dhinakaran, who honoured the members of the special team in his office.
